Welcome to SCHOOL CHOICE NY
Thank you for your interest in SCHOOL CHOICE.
The more one learns about this subject, the more one comes to realize that the time for school choice has come. There is truly no compelling reason to prevent School Choice from happening, except the strong political opposition from the education establishment which is bent on preserving their monopoly.
This particular change requires voters and voting blocks. Everyone who enlists, will surely recruit others, for this is the only way we will be able to build the political base required for achieving choice in education.
New York parents who choose private or religious education for their children are compelled to pay three times for education!
Their local property taxes – the highest in the country – pays for their local schools.
Their substantial state sales and income taxes are allocated to pay for pre-school through HS.
The third time they pay is by way of ever-rising tuition costs for their own children.
How are families to survive the unconscionable burden of having to pay three times for education?
To win the school choice battle we must also become familiar with the arguments being put forth by school choice opponents. On behalf of school choice send a letter to your federal and state representatives and tell them to support School Choice.
Thank you again for your interest in school choice, and on behalf of the countless children and parents who will benefit from your efforts, please be assured that your every act to further this great cause is most appreciated.

Special education
Special education has been experiencing tough times lately. In December, new amendments to state regulations took effect which reduced some of the school districts’ obligations to students with autism and language disabilities. In February, Mayor Bloomberg argued in front of the New York State legislature that too many children with special needs are enrolled in private schools at the taxpayer’s expense; he wants it to be required that these children try public school first (even though the US Supreme Court recently ruled that a child does not have to try public school as a prerequisite to obtaining funding for a private school).

Vouchers“It is only the tyranny of the status quo that leads us to take it for granted that in schooling, government monopoly is the best way for the government to achieve its objective.”
